How to Compute Cubic Yards
To determine cubic yards in volume,
Length x Width x Height (in feet) divided by 27 = Cubic Yards
Examples of one cubic yard:
- 203 gallons
- Four 55-gallon drums
- Eleven 20-gallon containers
- Seven 30-gallon containers
- One-half a pickup load

Choose from 20-, 30- or 40-cubic yard roll-off containers. A cubic yard equals 27 cubic feet, or approximately a half pickup load or four 55-gallon drums or seven 30-gallon cans. A 40-cubic yard industrial roll-off container will hold about 20 pickup loads of debris.
