What garbage items will you take? TOP
We will just about everything.
Typically, household waste includes everyday items we bring into our home. Predominantly this includes:

  • Food Wastes
  • Containers and Product Packaging
  • Disposable Tableware
  • Clothing
  • Hygiene Products

For a more detailed list, please refer to our Recycling Page for a complete list of items and instructions.

What items will you not take? TOP
Again, we will just about everything. However there are a number of atypical items will take, but may need a special truck, other equipment or additional staff to dispose of these items. Atypical items we take are:

  • White Goods (Old Washers & Dryers, Dishwashers, etc)
  • Hot Water Heaters
  • Gas Grills (But no tanks please!)
  • Dismantled Metal Swing Sets
  • Bicycles

But please e-mail or call the office with these unique request. Also, please refer to our Recycling Page for a complete list of items and instructions.

Do you offer Recyling only? TOP
Yes, you can recycle with Covenant Waste Systems even if you have another trash vendor.

Does the trash inside the container have to be bagged?
No, However bagging and sealing will significantly reduce unpleasant smells and odors from the trash containers.

What Items should we place in our recycle containers?TOP
Please refer to our Recycling Page for that information.

Can my neighborhood utilize 64 gallon recycle carts instead of the smaller, 18 gallon bins? TOP
Often, if an entire neighborhood is interested in improving recycling volumes, we will work with the HOA or home owners to assist in meeting these necessary objectives.

What are your hours? TOP
Our office hours are 8 AM – 5 PM, Monday through Thursday, and 8AM – noon Friday. Landfill hours are different so you may want to click over to our Recycling Center Information Page on this website.

What happens when my service day falls on a holiday? TOP
Please refer to the Holiday Schedule page on this website for complete details on when trash is picked up.

What if I have extra bags? TOP
CWS is unique among the Union County haulers. And one more way we differentiate ourselves is by collecting everything. We also have weeks where we accumulate more recyclables and trash than we have capacity for. But just bag it up, set on it top, or to the side of your can, and we’ll take it.

What is your holiday schedule? TOP
Please refer to the Holiday Schedule page.

What time does the trash have to be out at the curb? TOP
Trash should be out no later than 7 AM.

When will you pick up my yard waste? TOP
Yard debris is picked up on the same day as regular trash collection. But please e-mail or call the office to notify us.

Do you collect old tires? TOP
We will collect an old tire or two. But if you have more than a couple, please call the office for details.

What landfill does CWS use? TOP
We generally utilize the landfill nearest where we are collecting. We have a variety of landfills at our disposal and will properly dump trash at the location closest to your home or business.

Does CWS have any corporate objectives? TOP
Currently, about 10% of what we collect is recyclable materials, while the remaining 90% goes to the landfill. Through improved education and awareness, we have the objective of reaching a 25% – 75% ratio by year end 2012. This will have a profound impact on our limited landfill space, clean air, and future for our children. And this effort starts with you.

What if my recycle bin is too small? TOP
CWS is not specific about the container that holds your recyclable materials. If you use other containers or boxes, we will leave them at curbside upon emptying. But also, e-mail or call us and we will bring you another container.

What are the most misunderstood recyclable items? TOP
Beverage Cartons (2qt milk or orange juice cartons and quart ice cream containers) These items are a composite of a paper or cardboard container, coated internally with a polymer or plastic. Since these cannot be easily separated, the entire item is non-renewable.

Pizza Boxes (The greasy food debris harms the filters used in the paper refining process)

Mixed Paper (Paper that is contaminate with food, wax paper, carbon paper, sanitary products or tissues, thermal fax paper, stickers and pet food bags.

The above items should be discarded in the trash container, and not the recycle container.
